Photography Project

Here is some work I've been doing for my degree. We were given five words, Speak, Think, Interact, Feel and Respond and had to create 10 photographs in response to them. These three were my favourite of the series.

I would like to thanks my mate Chris Lambert for helping out with these.

My Trip To London

Yesterday I got back from my trip to London. It was amazing! Despite living in the Uk all of my life I have never visited it's capital, so it was a very insightful trip for me. The reason for the trip was to visit a couple of design companies/agencies that were holding lectures for students from Falmouth University. We visited a total of 6 companies in 3 days so it was a pretty hectic couple of days.

The 6 companies were:

AKQA
Saatchi & Saatchi X

Each company gave an incredibly insightful look into how their company works and what they provide in the industry. Me being a bit of techy nerd I was particularly blown away with the work of AKQA and Unit 9 who have created some amazing interactive websites for big names such as Samsung, Ferrari and Microsft. Brand Union, Saatchi & Saatchi and Pentagram were also very impressive with a massively long list of top end clients. Purpose was probably the smallest design company we visited which was nice, their company had a different feel to the others we visited although what that is i can't put my finger on. Other things i learnt from my trip, London doesn't have enough toilets, or cash machines, or bins, and if you don't tip you're an evil person.

Anyway i could go on for days, but i really should get on with some work.

Im off to play some modern warfare 2... i mean work...

Flex: Issue 2

You may or may not that i am currently doing some work for the Falmouth University newspaper known as Flex. In the latest issue I was able to design a double page special for the reviews section. I was given the oportunity to basically go a bit nutty with it, and so I did :D

It got released the other day, so now i'm allowed to show this.

Its sunny today

Im working on a huuuuuge digital illustration for a poster. Its A1 size and so far it looks pretty cool. Still alot of work to go though. Im hoping to do a series of them each with a different theme, the one im working on now is about war, the next one will be zombies, and the one after that is going to be a sci-fi ish design. Im basically just playing with themes that regularly crop up in my work and that i enjoy working with. Don't expect to see  the finished products anytime soon, at the rate im going its going to be atleast a month until all three are finished.

In the meantime here's a green monster eating a little pink thing. Enjoy!

Crusts Co Presents...

The Cyber Nazi Enslaved Tribal Wigogu Clan War Machines

These gentle mechanical giants became enslaved by the evil cyber nazi's in an attempt to be used as weapons against the allies. They proved powerful on the battlefield but mid-way through their service a lone wigogu war machine went against his programming, ate his cyber nazi slave driver and led the rebellion of the Cyber Nazi Enslaved Tribal Wigogu Clan War Machines in a fight for freedom!

Hehe, my imagination got the better of me.

I saw Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds the other day, you could say that this is loosely inspired by it.

Book

I've found this very interesting project simply named BOOK. It's about a sketchbook which was sent back and forth between Brooklyn and Dublin at random between four artists. Each artist created a spread in response to the previous page. Its a very interesting idea, on the site every spread of the book has been presented along with a clip of audio containing the artists discussing the piece.

Very cool project, something i would love to do.

Go look at it here.

Days are getting shorter!

Hey Folks!

It's been a while since I posted something on this blog that really had some substance. So today/tonight Im making up for it :)

I recently went on holiday to portugal which was fun.

IMG_4685

Nothing to do with design but it does explain my lack of posts lately. While away my family and I were holidaying with another two families, so there was a total of 6 kids running around alot of the time. I mention this because after they realised I could draw, I began to work through their numerous and incredibly random requests. I wrote the strangest one's down.

  • Zombie eating someone
  • Man riding a giant bee, with guns
  • A pixie fairy riding something/maybe an alien
  • Man pooing
  • An army butch man with combat shotgun and cigar, shooting evil man with blood saying "Eat Lead Sucker!"
  • Man weeing
  • Man pooing on someone who is throwing up while also being wee'd on
These kids were between 9-12. I blame southpark.

New work :)

"FACE to FLOW
"

Face to Flow

I've been working on this for a while and i think i can call it finished. I've got annoyingly critical of my own work lately, so much so that i have started over working alot of pieces.

There's a couple of pieces I'm working on currently, not sure when or if i'll publish them. Im just trying to exdpand my portfolio to be honest.

There is a new Adamwitton.co.uk up and running. Although it's nothing amazing. Expect something better over the coming months.

Here are some cool fonts I found. The first is a funny bold typeface called MOO. The second is a slightly more serious hard edged font, very precise and looks kind of sci-fi ish , its called Amputa Bangiz , I actually used it in the piece above.

Time for some inspiration...

"SKATE con cinco letras"

skate_banner

This first piece was published in UNO magazine. Its the work of five artists and design teams, Álex Trochut, Inocuo The Sign, Angel Sanz & Jenny Chih Chieh Teng, Sergio Jiménez, Losieto studio. Each member designed a letter. I think it looks awesome, more about the piece here.

I am hoping this will replace the windows media players dated visualistations.

Below is a funny animation i found. Imagine the film "The Thing" but with toys :) Cool soundtrack too.

Reading Festival 09!

reading

Tickets went on sale last week, lineup isn't looking to bad, with King's of Leon headlining as well as Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys. Could be better in my opinion but non the less I managed to get a ticket amongst the mad scrabble of online orders.

Here's Some Freaky Cool Music! you got to go listen to. It's got such a strange combination of instrumenals, vocals and electro that really work.

The Omega Code contest finished a couple of days ago, theres some seriously awesome designs there, go check them out.

TVDRS Tape

I found this crazy design for an MP3 player this morning. It's basically an MP3 player that looks like a cassette. Not only does it look cool but it's got tons of cool little features, like twisting one of the cassette holes charges the battery! Twisitng the other skips through songs.

Designed by Stefano Pertegato, Massimiliano Rampoldi, Eloisa Tolu, Francesco Schiraldi & Giovanni Mendini.
